    Default 250 Cup

I've been looking into this class since the last round that i saw Phil and Derick battle it out at Pacific. It's really interesting class and I'm contemplating the possibility of racing it next season.

Reading the rule book, it sounds like there isn't much that can be done to these bikes, which is true. However, most people only talk about the Ninja 250R, not the CBR 250R. Has anyone tried racing the CBR? The CBR comes FI, but doesn't have much on the Ninja due to the Ninja having multitudes of experience behind racing it.

Anyone interested or able to add more info?

The CBR is too far down on HP to be competitive. You'd get smoked. CBR has 4 HP less stock than a Ninja. May not sound like much but power to weight is huge in this class. I think the CBR may be a bit heavier also...have to check that one.

Not a single or twin, unless they changed the rules to allow multi.

I've got a buddy that has one that was his first bike, now he moved up to a 600 and has no use for the CBR250R. Wondering if it would be worth it to pick it up to run in the series next year versus the Ninja. There's way more aftermarket available for the Ninja than the honda too... just wondering.

The CBR can be made to be competitive, albeit with quite a bit of money. Ari Henning built a winning CBR 250 for racing with the AFM, but he wasn't able to do so until he had built a "supersport motor". This was also with the AFM set of rules, which are very different from WMRRA and OMRRA rules. You can't even race a CBR 250 in Ninja cup with OMRRA because it stipulates that only Kawasaki Ninja 250s can race in that class.

I strongly recommend going the Ninja 250 route, parts are plentiful and cheap, and the bikes have some racing development behind them so you will spend less time with R&D and more time riding and racing to win!

P.S. I can build you the exact bike that Derick was racing last round for $3500 including the bike with your choice of paint.

I'm interested in the Ninja 250's... skeptical to jump into buying a new bike with the 300's trickling out of the assembly lines now though. Although, that should make the 250's cost even more affordable. LMK if there's a deal we can work for next season!

Found me a Ninja 250R, now for the setup. Thanks to Phil and Premium Rush for helping me tackle that part of it. I can't wait to get out to the 250 cup grid this next season!
