Default Question about 1987 WMMRA/OMMRA rider

Hello all, I raced all WMRRA and one race in OMMRA in 1987 in the 600 Prod class on the "had to have" Honda Hurricane 600. At the OMRRA race in Portland, I started one of the races in the first wave and a few laps into the race the leader of the second wave caught me. He was riding a BMW boxer and I ended up keeping up with him for the remainder of the race. I had good drive out of T5 on to the backstraight but that BMW was a handful and the back end was always jumping sideways making it tough to know where that bike would be. I believe it was Randy Skiver and I wanted to confirm that. Does anyone know if in Randy's long career, whether he ran a BWM in 1987?

    Thanks
    glenn

In 1987 it was probably Scott Soper

Randy Skiver was not racing in 1987, i believe his last year was 1986

I'll bet it was Rocky Phoenix. He rode BMW's for years around here when no one else did.

There was another rider from Tacoma BMW that rode them down in Oregon. I had fun with him as he had the only GS450 Suzuki that could hang with the RZ350s, and he rode pretty wild to do it. Ward Rodgers...

Of course the RZ racing I was speaking of was in their release year - 1984. Don't worry Chris, I'm not feelin' old ... yet. See you on Wednesday?

Ward Rogers...now that name rings a bell! I am pretty sure that's the name I was looking for.

Thanks to all who threw a name into the ring!

I worked with Ward for 3 1/2 years, that guy could weld. I heard that he ran into some substance issues a couple of years ago, too bad. Nice guy, LOTS of race stories. You might say he piqued my interest in racing.
