Something along the lines of a Condor unit or similar. Needs to be free standing not simply a trailer mount. Thanks.

I have two of the bolt down versions in my trailer and they work alright, but I think they are a bit narrow in the front and pinch the tire more than cradle it...

I also own their condor style knock off one which is free standing...

I purchased this thing for 69 bucks and I am extremely satisfied with it.
I use it in my trailer, in the pits, in my truck... everywhere.. it works great and you sure can't beat the price...

I would encourage anyone lookin for a cheap but functional stand to check out the harbour frieght free standing one... I think you will be surprised by this cheap Chinese piece of imported crap... I was..
(the drill bits and pliers that I bought that day lasted for approx. 2 seconds of use.. but this stand on the other hand.. it keeps on ticking... without any issues)

(Love this one.. I can't believe how versatile it is and it seems to hold up to anything that i have needed it for .. I use it on the trailer, in my truck bed, in the pit, basically anywhere that you want to park your bike.. the downfall is that once the bike is in it.. you need to have someone hold it in place while you pull the bike out... or else it will just slide backwards with you and the bike...
HIghly recommend this one to everyone, it is well worth its measely $69 price)

Bolt Down
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97145 (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=97145)

(biggest piece of crap that I have ever owned.. and trust me - I have owned some pretty crappy things...
I bought two of these, bolted em in my trailer, pushed the bike into it, and put on the tie downs.. it bent immediately.. I didn't even dare use them because i thought the bike would surely fall over. I removed them and will never use them again.. you can have both of them for free - they are still sitting my shop
DO NOT BUY THESE !!! I don't even think they would work for a dirtbike.. .let alone a heavy street bike)

I have two of these bolted into the front of my trailer right now.. have used them for the entire race season and I like them. the only drawback is that the front part is a bit narrow, so you tire will wedge into it rather than press against it, I get scared that this might deform my tire a bit on the edges, but it hasn't ever done any permanent damage...
I think these were about $50 each.. .and I would recommmend them.. but the condor knockoff is still my hands down favorite)

the problems with these are that they are made of cheap crappy flexible steel , there is a lot of side to side room (probably would work great if you had a 10 inch front wheel), and there is no vertical support.... that vertical support would be the key to preventing bending and twisting in my opinion.

Did some more research. The Baxley Sport Chock looks pretty sweet. I did a google search and couldn't find one for under $215 + shipping. Yikes. I might pull the trigger, though.

one further suggestion that I have...

once you get the thing correctly fitted for your bike tire.. (you do this by moving the flipper part of the stand forward or backward)...

you will probably want to install cotter pins or safety wire instead of the cheapo Diaper pins that they provide. I think that they look way too prone to being caught on something and pulled out accidentally.

Good point. One of the ones I got was the floor model and one of the pins they had was tweaked (and missing a washer). I will be upgrading these components.

BTW - If you print out the online price, the store will price match. The store does not show this item as being on sale and they do not price match the online price unless you have the printout.

I have had my Baxley for two years now and no complaints. Pricey it is but I throw that thing in the truck, at the pits or in the garage and roll right in. Bought mine at Univ. Honda. That's my .02c.
