is what it costs to spin a rod bearing and replace an entire '08 R6 bottom end. :pokestick:

HUGE ups to I-90 Motorsports for helping me out a ton and giving me an AMAZING deal on parts - including wrangling it so that *overnight* shipping on everything from the crankshaft to the pistons cost a total of $50 - and Dave Lanigan of Speeddealer Motors for charging me not even a third of the hours he spent working with and teaching (and probably cursing under his breath :lmao:) me while he rebuilt my motor.

I'm now on my way to WERA @ Vegas with a fully functional (albeit butt-ugly) R6 that runs like a raped ape - 127.3hp :bigok:

Thanks again to the guys at I-90 and to Dave.. Four days ago I destroyed my motor and today I'm heading off to another race. People say it a lot but this time it couldn't be any truer - this would have been impossible without their help.:clap::clap:

You better see if they can warranty that, as we had two last year do the same thing(race bike's) and Yamaha discovered a issue with it and covered parts only. Even if it was used on the track.:bigok:

No such luck for me, already looked into it the first time I blew a motor up (due to detonation that time). My VIN is beyond the range that that warrantee issue covers.

Thats exactly what the first blow up looked like, detonation and then the second time discovered that the crankcase oil journal wasnt drilled correctly and was starving oil to I believe the #4 piston. Vin number ended w/ 000078 (I believe) and was told up to #97 would be affected, very early numbers vins in 08.

This was a classic big end oiling failure , number three I think.

"what we have here is a failure to lubricate"

Then that would be a great big OUCH! Or in the case of Thousands "Double Ouch"

$2,252.36 is probably about what I've spent on my entire bike over the course of 5 seasons--including tires...and the bike itself!

your thinking of the 2006-7 models (mainly 06') there was not only an oiling issue, but a bearing part number/clearance issue. Chris has an 08..no such problems.

Glad you guys got it chris, told ya it was a bearing...glad you listened to me and many others in replacing the entire crank and not just tossing in new bearings. Good luck rest of 2009!

The only thing that crank is good for is a Jet Ski anchor !

I was looking at the repair cost of $2200, and realized that would pay for 75% of your tire bill for two AMA classes :D
