A friend came over this weekend and helped me mount up my Hotbodies race plastics on my '04 R6. We noticed that there's no undertail for the race tail... what do you do for an undertail? I don't want to run it exposed, as the ECU and stuff under the seat would be exposed to the elements.

Also, what are these fasteners called and where can I buy them?

Dzus (almost pronounced Zeus) fasteners and you can get them through Lockhart Phillips. Undertail.....dunno...you will have to shop around. Kinda surprised Hotbodies didn't have one.

We were surprised as well... we even dug through the box again to make sure we didn't miss it. :(

Hotbodies has LOTS of undertails, but they're stock replacements. I only need one that fits their race tail, sans taillight assembly. I see they have one listed on their race plastics site, but at $100 I doubt it's just a piece of fiberglass. Gotta call them and find out, I guess.

Thanks for your reply!

This was the part I needed, but they no longer make it due to lack of interest in that part. Looks like it's duct tape time.

Not sure if it will work with the hotbodies but check www.godfatherracing.com, FlexiGlass, AK Composites, GP Composites, ummmm...I know there is more I am just drawing a blank. Even if it is close you can customize/modify it with a dremel to maybe make it fit. I had to do that with some OPP stuff....oh yeah, www.oppracing.com . hehe

Good Luck

Jimmie - if it's pretty flat, we could probably just lay a custom piece of glass, and cut it to size. I've done that in the past to solve these types of problems...
