Little Mario's 2008 Season Wrap Up...

Frist of all, a HUGE thanks goes out to the WMRRA e-Board and BOD for allowing Little Mario to race this year. It has been a long time coming and we are very thankfull that he was able to finally race here at home.

This year was Little Mario's first full year of racing the Honda RS125 and he race it all of the over the country with WERA and he had a blast, learned a ton, and looks forward to doing it all over again for the 2009 season, which starts in January for him.

In the course of riding and racing a lot this year, Little Mario learned that just because he can go fast (lap times), it doesn't mean that he has to. This year, we set out a goal for him, and that was that he would only go out during practice days and track days and ride at no more than 60% and on race days, he would only ride at about a fast 85% but only riding harder if he needed to. I was a little worried about this as he is only 11 years old and I didn't know how this was going to work for him. Well, he did it and was out there and having more fun than ever. Yeah, we even had folks asking why Mario was going slower than they saw him last year at PR, but he was out there to learn and work on lots of things while only riding at 60% and only a few seconds off his best times :D

We look forward to being back next year and Mario will be on ALL new equipment for 2009. Mario will have two Honda RS125s for next season and will compete full time in the USGPRU, and WERA Series and will attend as many WMRRA rounds as the schedule allows. His main focus for 2009 will be to prepare for the MotoGP and US Rookies Cup tryouts at the end of the 2009 as this is where the kid wants to end up.

Good to see Mario doing well! When he won his 1st 125GP race, I witnessed some tears from Big Mario, almost got me too. I'm really excited for you and your future endeavors!
