I'm about 89.35% sure I'll have the bike ready for April 1st... I'm coming down from Canada (Victoria)... So all you local race &/or weather gurus, should I be mounting slicks or rains?
Also, I assume there's someone at the track who can do tire changes? (Gotta get a second set of wheels one day...)

I would highly suggest that you get a spare set of rims...before. But yes there will be tire vendors at the track!

Yes there will be tires reps down there to swap out tires for you. I would bring both sets are plan on buying a set of rains if need be. Hell the weather men in this state can't even fiqure out the weather so I wouldn't plan on them!

Got tires in both flavours.... Spare wheels? Well, El Presidente obviously doesn't ride an esoteric RS125 with billion dollar hoops... Stupid HRC... one day maybe I'll try one of those converted street bikes... save myself some money! Will the track vendors change tires that you haven't bought from them?

iF I remember correctly they were like $10 a wheel or something like that. I would guess every vendor might have a different $ amount. If you run Dunlop you might get a better price if you go to the Dunlop shop :D

That sounds right... $25 Canadian Dollarettes for two wheels up here. Today's exchange that's about an even trade for $20us...

But I imagine with someone that has "Billion Dollar Hoops" that they might be able to afford the spare rims! :)

Just FYI, when we get to within 10 days of the race weekend I will enable the link in the top center box on the wmrra.com front page which will get you the 10 day weather forecast. (Right where it currently says "No Weather Forecast Yet".) That makes it easy for you to follow the changing forecasts of the weather guessers as the race weekend approaches, and then you can panic 10 minutes before your race when it suddenly changes anyway and you find you have the wrong tires mounted and no time to swap back...

Rick from SB changes them for $10 a wheel... and will be at every event (...and is a really cool dude :)) -- how's that for a shameless plug? Seriously, they always make time to get everyone's tires on, and on time -- so I wouldn't worry.

thanks chd! that's reassuring cuz it looks like we'll all be doing last minute changes! stupid undecided weather...
Favourite weather: Hot and sunny
2nd favourite: POURING rain
Most hated: showers, threatening to rain, making you put rains on so you're late and only get ½ your practice, get back to no showers and a drying track so back to slicks only have it start pouring just before your race... etc...
