Trailers

Hey, many of you have enclosed trailers to tow your gear and bikes with. How much do those cost and how much of a vehicle do you need to tow one? I am talking a small one, not a mammoth sized one that people could live in here.

I got a PT Cruiser. I know Lindsay tows his Ducati with spare tires and parts on the back of a Porsche Boxster.

How much is relative to how big? I don't know what the tow capacity is of a PT Cruiser but you should be able to tow a 5x8 or a 6x10 behind it. Figure in the $3K - $4k range depending on maker. That's just ball parking it however.

the PT can haul 1000 lbs according to the manual.

I picked up my 2001 Wells Cargo 6x10 enclosed trailer for $2500 from a WMRRA racer. The trailer has an aero bump in the front. If I remember correctly the max gross weight of the trailer is 2500lbs. I need to check the empty weight.

As to towing with the PT Cruiser. I think you'd be pushing it if you put much in the traile.

I pull a Haulmark 8'x5' cub with a Titan. I also have an Xtrail, and it pulls it alright as well.
