View Full Version : Racer's dream trip come true

For those of you interested we are planning on a racer's dream trip in early August. Yes it will be costly (though not so bad all things considered). 4 days of track time, 3 different configurations, 2 different tracks, and 1 transport.
August 2nd and 3rd....WERA races at California Speedway (oh yes the banking!!!)
August 4th and 5th....Adrenaline Freaks at Miller Motorsports Park (and oh yes, both AMA and WSBK configs)
4 days of track time on 2 different AMA tracks. We have the transport and the more people we add the cheaper it gets. We will be driving down to Fontana, CA for the WERA races and immediately following the races there we are heading to Utah to do 2 track days with Adrenaline Freaks at Miller.
Prices are not confirmed yet, but will include transportation of your bike, gear and tools to both tracks round trip as well as your choice to ride in the RV or purchase a plane ticket to go to the locations. You re welcome to sleep in the RV and trailer so there is no need for hotel. Beverages are provided by our fine friends at Red Bull and food is at a reduced cost since we will BBQ at the track.
With the price of gas being so high here is your chance to get in one week of racing at 2 different tracks at a greatly reduced price.
Give me a shout if you are interested, this is going to be an amazing trip for those that have wanted to hit these tracks

ok, didn't expect this much interest this quick. Here is a lil FAQ that I will add to
1. Yes, once we quote out the price it is final. No $200 to do the trip and it magically turns into $500
2. Your existing WMRRA license makes you eligible in WERA to race
3. Yes, as a novice you will race in your class (SV for SV, 600 for 600, 1000 for 1000)
4. Yes, as a season pass holder your photos are covered (hoped that was clear when you bought in, but here is clarification...YES)
5. I cannot give a final price now as the price drops with the more people that sign on. 50% up front for the travel costs only is what we would like to see, if you can't do 50%...give us a good reason why and we will probably allow for it. We just want to make sure that we don't get screwed and bump someone that really wants to do this versus someone that is just thinking about it....50% down is a good enough showing. Final payment can be made when you pick up your pick AFTER EVERYTHING IS DONE

Let me think about it! If you can, a cost estimate for the trip would be helpful!
I will be in the process of looking for someone's 07-08 race bike for next year, but hopefully the 05 GSXR will still be running well by then and my funds won't be too tied up in the new bike.
If I go, can someone volunteer to show me which way the track goes?! :)
Oh, and can I simply pitch a tent at the track to sleep?

Pitch a tent, or sleep in either the trailer or RV, your choice. We clear the trailer out so there's plenty of comfy floor space.
We'll also have pretty much every inline-4 class covered, so there'll certainly be someone to show you around ;)

do you know how long the total trip will be (driving there and back included)? I need to figure out if I can actually get the time off...which at this point I'm kind of doubting :( i was figuring two days there and back. So that's thurs, fri, and mon-thurs the next week off... I might have to let someone take my spot at the top

we'll be traveling down on Thursday night most likely, and if we leave on Tuesday night after the AF day, we'll be back on Wednesday night. So everyone can get back to work on Thursday morning.

I have been asked privately MANY times about prices. We cannot give you a final price since we need a head count. However, a ballpark estimation may help some of you that are on the fence.
Transportation to Fontana and Miller (includes place to sleep, but bring your sleeping bag) Around $400
Transportation to Miller for the AF date (also including a place to sleep like above) Around $300
Now please remember, gas prices are changing and this is still a month out. Also please remember this is for room and board for you and your bike. If you do not do the Fontana races you will have to factor in a plane ticket for yourself or drive to Miller. The prices do not include your track day fees or race fees (this is obvious since everyone would race in different classes and different amount of races)
However, below are the prices if you were to drive yourself to the same events in a vehicle that gets 20MPG at $4.34/gallon on a 15 gallon tank (mile info from Mapquest)
Seattle to Fontana roundtrip- $514
Seattle to Tooele roundtrip- $378
No need to debate numbers, just pulled them out of my butt, figured they were averages. The prices for touring with us would give you the RV to hang out in (with AC in it), sheltered place to sleep, split costs of food, split costs of garages, our knowledge on where to go for tech/rules/etc (so no mud on your face issues), as well as if there was any issue from you crashing you would have no worry...your bike would be loaded up and you would not have to drive so a little peace of mind for you...especially on a 4 day round trip of racing.

Damon sounds like he is in, Thom2002 is on the fence, since he was the first to reply with interest I'd like to give him the chance to opt in or out but there is only one spot left for this trip.
Garages at Miller are $75/day...split that between 8 people for cost and they include air and electrical connections
The racing Mecca of Miller and the banking of Fontana with a support team...1 spot available
