I need to buy a lap timer....anyone have an opinion on which one to get? All I care about is lap time I don't want any other telemetry just something small, simple with easy to read numbers. Oh ya and did I mention low cost?

Hey Brad, always been happy with my XT Racing, easy to use, clear display and plenty of memory to save years of lap times w/track names.

I like the fact that it's not plastic. The alluminum construction is very sturdy, just last Thursday at the AF day mine went flying off my tank exiting T2 (old velcro is no good!) and , according to the corner worker, it went sliding and tumbling all the way down almost to their T3 corner station. When Russ Wieand brought it to me at the end of the day (thanks Russ) all it had was a few scratches but the display was intact and all functions worked just like before :)

Chris did you get lap times on Thursday at the AF day? I have an old XT and it was not working thinking its toast thats why I'm looking for a new one.

He didn't get any times, no beacon was out there.

Nope, there was no beacon out there. Hang onto until next round, I bet someone will have a transmitter.

Ah that explains it. Cool hopefully it works and that's one less thing I have to buy before the next round. Thanks for the heads up!

Given the number of times the beacon has been down, I recommend looking into a GPS based lap timer.

Can you recommend a brand or website for a GPS style?

I bought a Starlane, but I don't recommend them. Very cool technology but the software is buggy and they are pretty expensive. I'm still looking for the right one.

I like this one:

Big display, not too expensive, and overall easy to use!
