What can you leave at the track overnight between Saturday and Sunday? Also, if you attend a track day on Friday or Monday, can you leave stuff on Friday or Sunday night, too? What is OK to leave and what's a bad idea?

Everything. I leave my bike, canopy, toolbox, and generator. I usually strap everything together under the canopy and lock the generator to the trailer, so that the cool stuff doesn't "walk away". If there are drags that night, I will usually put the tools into the truck, but I haven't had any issues with leaving stuff at the track.

If there is a track day the day before, you can leave everything all set up and ready to go Saturday. I don't know about the Sunday night thing, I would contact the trackday organization about that.

I know this is an OLD thread, but the search function works and as a noob myself and my two noob friends are curious if the points made in this thread back in '08 still hold true.

Is leaving gear at the track Saturday night a "safe' thing to do without and enclosed trailer?

Have there been any theft's?

Also, are the drag races usually Friday or Saturday nights?

Thanks for your input!!!

When I raced cars, I never like to leave anything out that could wal away easily. I think it's worth the 10 minutes to put the bikes into the trailer just for the piece of mind.
Maybe find someone that will have a trailer that you can store your stuff in? I'll most likely have a 20' enclosed that will have some free space if you want to store things over night

I usually keep all my stuff in a trailer, but I leave everything there at the track between Sat and Sun. I know a lot of guys who just leave their stuff under a dropped canopy and I've never heard of anything getting stolen overnight.

If there are drags, they are usually only on Friday night - Not sure if that will change this year, as I know nothing about the drag schedule, but typically it's only the friday night before.

It's a pretty tight-knit group of friends and peers - who tend to watch out for eachother. I always feel really comfortable leaving my stuff. Half the guys I know camp in the pits overnight so there are always an extra set or two of eyeballs to watch the stuff.

Case in point:
At the beginning of last year, I left my canopy up overnight and David Slay (<---complete stud) who was camped next to us, woke up in the middle of the night to save my canopy from being shredded by the wind.

It's all up to your comfort level, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Dancing weiner thingy to end the long post ----> :dancingchili::dancingchili:

I am one of the people referenced that leaves everything and drops the canopy down and goes back to Seattle for the night. I have slept in the back of the truck but that's another story.....your stuff is safe. I don't even take my key out so I can't forget it in the a.m.......

I leave everything out too, and have never had a problem in over five years. (Jesus, I'm one of the "been racing for a while" guys now...)

There have been some thefts that have happened during the raceday (Howard Crow had a significant amount of cash lifted from his wallet, inside his pants, inside his trailer), but the worst thing I've ever heard of happening after the raceday was suspension knobs being twiddled - and I've never actually had any of those accounts confirmed.

Executive summary: if you leave your shit out and it gets stolen, you can bill Dave and Chris for the replacement value of the items :)
