Hey, whats up, Name is Gary T and I am going to join you all in the 06 season. I bought a 1999 R6 that I just repainted. I have an 2000 R6 for the street that I didn't want to wreak so I bought this 1999. Mike Lenvinton (sp) and steve batch (i think thats his last name) helped me get started. We are a part of our own little racing team. I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people this year. My question is concerning my yellow number backing. does it have to be all cross the front of the bike or can it be on one side? Heres a pic of me and my bike. It was taken a couple weeks ago and I have more stickers on it now. lol, gotta look cool right. :) well, nice to meet you all.

Number plates:
In all racing events, competitor's motorcycles shall be fitted with three non-metallic number plates; one on the front and one on each side. Each number plate will consist of the entrant's competition number as numerical digits and a contrasting background.
The number plate digits must be solid black and at least six inches high. The distance from any digits edge to the outside border of the number plate must be at least one inch.
Backgrounds will be white for all competitors except Novice and Graduated Novice. Novice and Graduated Novice will be required to use yellow backgrounds.
All number plates must be visible at 100 feet from the front and each side of the motorcycle while the rider is in a normal seating position (Section E-24f). Non-conforming motorcycles are subject to black-flagging (Section J-4).
For special events, such as endurance races, the organizers may assign numbers for each entry and may provide a program listing the numbers and the rider's names for pre-entered competitors.
In any event, riders whose numbers are not legible (at the discretion of the head scorer) do not have to be scored.
Motorcycles without numbers or number plates in compliance with E24 a-e will not be allowed on the racetrack during a race unless given special approval by the head scorer and referee.
Please note that the change to electronic timing and scoring does not eliminate or alter number plate requirements in any way.

Steve-
You've learnt well...if only all newbies were this attentive!
I know veteran racers that couldn't have put it better.
BTY-is graduating from novice in the near future?

I've read the rule on number plates a handful of times now, and I'm not certain that the rule that Steve so aptly posted truly answers Gary's initial question...
"My question is concerning my yellow number backing. does it have to be all cross the front of the bike or can it be on one side?"
The question asks, does the number have to cover the width of the cowl's nose, or can it simply occupy a single corner of the nose? Is this correct Gary? If not, I’d still like to know for my own bike…
I have included two pictures that should show the two options.

My guess is that if the front number plate is visible at 100 feet it should not matter.

Nice choice in sample ZX pr0n!
Both are sufficient from what I've seen. I plan to run my novice plate on the right side of the nose. If tech tells me differently, well, that's what my array of colored duct tape is for! :p

Well, although I'm not a tech inspector it appears after looking through some pics from last year, this would be allowed (sse link). And I didn't claim to have answered the question originally stated. I just quoted the rulebook.

I just started riding last summer and I don't know anyone that rides. I was hoping to meet up with some people and ride this year. I would love to meet some chicks, because I am one. I ride a GS500F. I have gotten up to 115. My logest ride was up to Woodenville and back. I am getting lonley, so invite me on your next ride :)
Lacy,
Welcome! It would appear that we have a few things in common:
- We wanna meet some chicks who like to ride bikes.
- We've ridden all the way to Woodinville and back.
- We've seen a buck fifteen on our speedo (Turn One at Pacific Raceways for me....and that's HAULIN'!!, trust me)
- We're lonely
- We've posted things on the WMRRA forum in slightly inappropriate places.
Seriously, welcome to the sport! You might want to start a new thread with your question, but I'd like to suggest a trackday experience. Great fun and you'll learn a ton! Look around and you'll see that there are alot of options.

Actually as a Novice you have to run YELLOW number plates on your bike. That means Front and back both sides. If you have any question about this you'll need to ask the Ref, Bobby! And the pictures above are not a good representation since the technically are ILLEGAL number plates.

Howdy Gary T....Look forward to meeting alot of people myself...oh yeah..and racing! My only concern through this Novice season is guys riding over their head or taking unneccesary chances and crashing other people (me) out. If I crash due to my own stupidity..well that's one thing..but I never want to be responsible for my stupidity causing someone else to go down. So I figure if everyone I know is on the same page and we spread the word, then I think we can have a safe and fun Novice experience...Graduate..and then we can get down and nasty!!!!
What are your thoughts.....I plan on being out front anyway so none of this really matters anyway hehehehe

As long as we are all safe it doesn't matter where we are on the track.
Hey, do you guys have a website up yet?
