All of this chatter about quiet generators made me realize that one of my 18 projects this winter was putting a secondary muffler on my generator.

So, after looking on eBay and the like, I thought that I would ask my peeps for a little help. I am looking for a small muffler, like what you would have on a scooter or pit bike, that I can add onto my generator. If someone has a muffler that they pulled off of their pit bike, that would probably work, too. Small car muffler (did your neighbor put a fart can on his Civic? See if he has the stock one lying around).

Since I am cheaper than all of you put together, and more broke than a pencil in 7th grade home room, I would like to pay nothing for this. However, being realistic, I could probably scrape a couple of coins together for your trouble, or dig through the couch cushions for some M&M's or goldfish crackers.

Or, you could thank me for being proactive and attempting to quiet down my 5Kw industrial generator. heck, you get me a muffler, you get free* electricity for the weekend.

(* but you still need to pit near me, and listen to me talk incessantly about my daughter and how smart she is for a 3 year old. I mean, c'mon, she's really smart!)

Hit me with PM's, or if you know my email addy, drop me a note.

Thanks!

phil

ps- I'm not a dumping ground for your sh1t. I know, I know, beggars can't be choosers. If I don't find anything close, I will pony up and buy something. Don't worry. But if it's free and not too bad, I will look at it.

Great! Since, if at all possible, I am even cheaper than Phil . . . throw in a second one. That should quiet down my Coleman beast to a tolerable level for everyone!

You probably will gonna have to quiet down the intake too...

Speaking of noisy generators, is there a sure way to pit such that to avoid those or noisy generators are pitting at random?

Okay, after a little homework, how about something bigger? Since the 10HP engine is ~350-400 cc's, an old dirtbike muffler (OEM/stock) would work just as well. Something from an XR200-XR650, maybe a DR-DRZ, something like that. An old Dual Sport street (Think XL600 or KLR650) would be good, too.

I am also going to be building a sound enclosure, possibly something with cooling fans, but definitely insulation will be involved. This is going to be a pretty cool experiment, and if it works well enough, I will provide all of my "expertise" into helping someone doing the same project.

I will get my friend to ask around. It is the least he can do for getting that tire from ya!

Let me find out the size, and I'll let you know. It needs to fit into an 18" space, or be able to be removed/installed easily.

How about giving me your 600? I kid. Let me know what he comes up with.

Looks like I might be already giving it away. I can't wait any longer to sell it. I need the dough to put towards the new bike. So I am probably gonna give it to the highest LOWBALL offer I got last week, lol. :crazy2:
