Keep an eye on sales at Sports Authority, Joes, Fred Meyers and Walmart for Quick Shade canopies. EZ Up is a better quality canopy (and more expensive), but since we're not racing in the Spokompton Hurricane Zone any more, Quick Shade should be fine.
Two piece leathers will be fine as long as they have a full circumference zipper to attach the 2 halves.

I personally dissagree on the leathers. There isnt a two piece suit out there that the zipper and stiching holding the zipper is as as strong as a 1 piece suit, period. Even if the rules DO allow it, I wouldnt do it.
Save your pennies and buy good gear.
Costco always has caravan canopies for less than $200 . I've gotten 6 years so far from mine.

as an ex-engineer and seeing so many track days and races....single point of failure is always begging a bad result. Two piece suits are a bad idea if you are planning on racing. That zipper breaks and a whole lotta you is exposed to serious damage even during a small low side.
Keep an eye on Big5 stores. I got an EZUp 12x12 for around $70 or 80. They still have them for sale, $100 should get you one. Their sales "circulate" products a lot, so they are on sale almost every other weekend.

You can usually find good deals on 1pc suits @ newenough.com. Also, EDR was just blowing out some A* suits last week. You may want to check with www.edrperformance.com by calling the shop.
+1 to the Costco Canopies. Those hold up way better than the $50 versions.

You can also find great deals on leathers by browsing racing boards.... or by letting us know what size you wear.
I happen to have a nearly brand new 1 piece set of Red Teknic Violator leathers in a size 44 that is for sale. Been worn twice, the kneepucks have never seen the asphalt. $400 for any WMRRA racer or 2Fast staff member, $500 for anyone else.

These guys have a pretty good review of the violator, they also recommend that you should buy one size larger than normal. That is when you finally find your size.

The sweet deal about the Caravan at Costco is it is the straight leg versioin and it comes with 4 sides! Those sides can come in handy on a cold rainy day at Pacific!
If you are buying new leathers one piece for sure! I have a two piece and they crashed well once. I need to update and get a good one piece, but then I look at our fearless leader's leathers which are two piece leathers that look like they have been to hell and back and they are still protecting him.

That is a great video. The owners of this website LOVE Teknic gear... the Violator is their Bang for the Buck suit of choice.
I wrecked in mine too (not the one I am selling) and it held incredibly well. I came off in turn 8 at PR and went feet first into, literally into and under, the tirewall. Thanks to my Sidi boots and my Teknic Violators, I walked away without a scratch.

The pro wheels easy up's are pretty nice and inexpensive. you can get them from halpincustomsportbikes.com he doesn't have them listed on there yet but he had some custom ones made for next year. you can have your # printed on them or name for a sponsor or whatever you want. you can check them out on the pro wheels website I think but email hcs if you wanna find out how much they are. good luck, Nick

Thanks again for all the input. Looks like it will be the teknic and the website you gave has the best price. now if i could just find that scale, every time I see it , it starts to roll away :headscratch: It may be trying to tell me to work a little harder on that weight loss.

motostrano.com usually has A* suits on closeout this time of year.

So I was wrong they do have them listed on the hcs website under accessories http://www.halpincustomsportbikes.com/accessories/
With a race licence you get a 10% discount on anything he sells. so check it out and he has some cool numbers there also. a lot better than the motocross ones!
That's weird... HCS lists the same canopy for over $100 more than www.prowheelracing.com
Here is their catalog: http://www.prowheelracing.com/assets/files/07-Catalog_web.pdf (PDF)
Unless HCS includes custom graphics with the price... but I didn't see it on the website.
In any case a $100 12x12 from Big5 seems to do a great job for 1/3 of the price. Sides can be made from this:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=2091
(pick your size, and then cut to fit) If you get EZUp in blue it will even match the color :)
