View Full Version : New Bus Stop

Been thinking about this since the weekend:

Is it just me, or does the "new and improved" bus stop configuration open up two (2) lines and allow for ease of three (3) bikes; thereby maybe not slowing the bikes down as much as before, but opening up safer lines and passing?

My first time through I had to do a double take as I wasn't sure what to make of it, but after that I liked it alot. I'm a n00b so haven't tried to pass there yet, but it seems much safer and managable.

I think the new bus stop is great and safer than it used to be. How bout we just get used to it and focus on other issues. like...... oh i dont know..... maybe repaving our damn track. in the bus stop we are only goin around 40 mph. around turn 2 we're pushin a 100+ on the exit. let's think about this for a second. 40mph or 100mph...... hmmm...... how bout we try to get the really really bad parts of the track repaired first. the guys did a great job on the bus stop, and i for one am very very appreciative of that fact. now all we gotta do is convince them to do the same thing on 2, 8, and 9. then we'll talk. ;). but in all seriousness, it'd hard enough to get anything else done. so let's stop beatin a dead horse. having said this, i'm not trying to smack anyone in the face, i just think there are other issues to focus on rather than something that has already been delt with. you pickin up what i'm puttin down?? ;) anyone else have any thoughts??????? -RHETT #948.

Rhett there is one thing you couldn't see in the bus stop that the curbing was hiding. There was a reason why the exit curbing was were it was....it was covering a hole from the crappy pave job that was done on the bus stop.

I'm aware of that. but look how much nicer the bus stop is. would we rather like to go back to the way the old one was???? that's all i'm saying. how bout we talk about repaving the rest of the track in turns 2, 8, and 9 like i said earlier rather than talking about something that has already been done. i could see talkin about it if it was worse than it was before. but it's not. and rather than just complaining myself... IS THERE ANY WAY OF GETTING THE BALL ROLLING ON REPAVING TURNS 2, 8, AND 9???????? I am more than happy to step up to the plate in this one. what do i have to do???

From what I understand, the only reason why the bus stop was repaved was due to the NASCAR weekend. Had nothing to do with responding to the wishes or WMRRA.

If you look at the track reconfiguration map turn 2 will get repaved when they do the change...the question is of when will they make that change.

thats awesome. well, we still need either a new track or some new asphalt ASAP. don't get me wrong, pacific raceways is like my home and will always be. but like any good home, it needs alot of work.

Given your number, I'm going to assume you're new with the club. Let me enlighten you. We, as a racing club, are the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to the race track. We bring in relatively small crowds/money and represent only a small fraction of the users. Our club officials have gone to extreme lengths to get us the improvements we DO have - pot holes fixed, we've built tire walls, and the club has purchase a large quantity of air fence for our safety. The track is only willing to do so much. Asking them to make any improvements on our behalf has fallen on relatively deaf ears. Getting them to repave it "for us" would be akin to a miracle. Really.
And a new track? Where would you propose we do that? Besides finding the land to do it on, getting the ok from the "neighbors" and fighting many other gigantic hurdles, it won't happen.
We have to make do with what we've got. Keep working as a club to keep the racers safe. Do what we can from within and keep electing representatives willing to make strong requests of the track.

As a gentle reminder - please DO NOT EVER contact the track directly - this does NOT help our case. Let your club reps talk for you- it will get us a lot farther. Really.

well given your #..... let me enlighten you. i was mearly stating the fact that the track needs work in other spots, other than complaining about the bus stop that is now awesome and i appreciate very deeply that it has been fixed. there are alot of other really bad spots on the track that could use attention. but i guess you would need to go around the track faster than 60mph to figure that out. so "get bent" and don't insult my intelligence ever again. and the next time i have to lift my rear tire off the ground coming into a corner to keep from hitting you because you doing 25mph, you're gonna hear about it. and yes, i am new to the club, but i have been around this sport for alot longer than you think. and next time, do some damn research on someone before you go telling them "how it is".

Well Rhett, Unless you have an extra few million dollars there is nothing you can do to speed up the process. Besides thatI think I would rather have you spend it on a better attitude anyways.

Let me say this once. Choose your words carefully. I took part of your response as a threat.

If your sooooo fast then whay have you not graduated?
If your so good, Why could you not have seen the slower rider way ahead and recognized a better choice of lines rather than supposedly up someones ass.

From this I take that you should be concentrating on your riding not the track,

The track has been rough for yearsif not decades. What I'd like to see is people stop whining and come to grips with the fact that evrybody is riding under the same circumstances.

first of all - this thread isn't about my speed or your lack of passing skills - it's about educating yourself about the history of the club's standing with the track. As a side note, I have every right to be on the track at any speed - and telling me I'm going to "hear about it" is considered poor sportsmanship and, in my book, a personal threat. I suggest you keep your threats to yourself.

Anyone who's been on the track in any capacity knows it needs improvement. The bus stop wasn't fixed because of anything to do with our club or motorcycles. We benefit from it but the repair wasn't motivated by anything we did. our club officials do work hard and fight on our behalf.

Your first post shows just how little you DO know about the club and it's relationship with the track.

"IS THERE ANY WAY OF GETTING THE BALL ROLLING ON REPAVING TURNS 2, 8, AND 9???????? I am more than happy to step up to the plate in this one. what do i have to do???"

The ball HAS been rolling for over a decade now - it's up to us to keep it rolling. To come into the club as a new memeber and assume nothing's been done and that by stepping up, you can fix it all - it's not you I'm frustrated with - it's the attitude that the club's been sitting around waiting for "you" the new racer to come to the rescue and fix all the problems. You're not the only one with the great ideas and the vision to get them all solved before we set wheel on the track again. This is coming across snippier than I intend, it's not meant towards you directly, I dont' have anything against you (and the personal attacks tell me that you've got a bee in your bonnet already).

I'm just pointing out that as a club we're doing all we can do to get and keep the ball rolling. As a new member of the club, keep electing the outspoken officials who will keep pushing for more improvements to the track and keep donating to the air fence fund so that everyone can continue to enjoy the track we have available.

the only reason i went off at all likei did is because you insulted my intelligence by coming at me like i'm some new dipshit and i have absolutely no idea what i'm talking about. of course i know that i cant fix everything and no shit, this has been an issue for a long time. i was simply making a point. so you came at me, not the other way around. i have respect for you as a person, but i write what i write simply so it is seen and maybe, just maybe someone will think about it a little more. there is no possible way i can just fix anything, and i am fully aware of that. and i just want to reiterate the fact that you insulted my intelligence, so you did have it coming. i still have respect for you, but i would speak the same way to my teammates and my best friends if they came at me like you did. so let it be and drop it. good day.

Just a simple question I do not expect a response from you or anybody for.

How does a new member to the club learn about the various contining issues that the club administration is dealing with? Things like track quality, safety, online registration, etc are things which I'm sure people every year bring up but they wouldn't have to if they knew what the club was doing on those fronts since that front started.

Pretty easy to find out answers to these questions...

1. Go talk to your rider reps. They will provide answers to you.

2. Attend the general membership meetings. We discuss this stuff all the time at the GM meetings.

BTW Chris - Why do you pose a "simple question which you don't expect a response from" in a public forum?

BTW Chris - Why do you pose a "simple question which you don't expect a response from" in a public forum?

I ask a "simple question I don't expect an response" because I want to make someone to think about the situation and why the person they are blasting might have made the statement they made.

I'm not always interested in the answer but the journey to that answer as I find that holds much more insight and information than the actual answer.
