Just got back from Harborview, as you know Josh wen't down in the back straight just after the hill towards Turn 5. He says he remembers doing a wheelie on the gas over the hill and it coming all the way up and over.
Josh had a significant break in his femur as well as dislocation. They had to drug him up pretty good to set back what they could so we didn't really get to talk to him much as he was out of it. He was scheduled to go into surgery after we left to finish up, and will probably get some hardware in his leg. They said he was stable and it was pretty much just his leg that was injured from what they found so far. They also said he would be a "guest" at Harborview for at least 3 to 4 days. We didn't get much more info than that, and me and Troy were advised to go home and get some sleep as it would be a while before he would be in and out of surgery and up and at em after that. Troy will be stopping by tomorrow to check in and get more info, and I'll let you know what we hear after that.
Again - the race day staff was amazing and thanks a million for everyone's help in getting the bike and gear back to the pits. We appreciate everyones hard work and kind words, they really mean alot, and i'm sure Josh feels the same way, and even said it himself before he got on the Chopper. I'm sure when he's able he will be on here filling everyone in on the complete story....and then some ;-)
Thanks again, and Troy or myself will post again when we get more info.

Josh's is out of surgery, and awake, but still can't talk due to the breathing tube still in. Everything went pretty well, and he has some pins and plates in his leg now. He isn't expected to walk for about a month or so, so he may be doing his next wheelies from the wheelchair. They also found some broken ribs, and may have some pnemonia. The breathing tube is supposed to come out today, and they say he is welcome to have visitors anytime, but if it's later in the evening, you just have to check in with security. He might also be moving to a different location for a couple days of recovery.
If anyone is interested in visiting - you can just call Harborview and ask for information on Josh Nguyen, and they can direct you.
Thanks again for the support, looks like he's on his way.

Looks like Josh is going to spend some more time in the ICU. They found a FAT embolism that has been affecting his breathing, and he's back on the breathing tube and being kept pretty comotose to keep his O2 levels up. A slight pause on the road to recovery, but i'm sure he just needs to get over this little hurdle and he'll be on the fast track out of the hospital. So send your thoughts his way, and i know he likes to see familiar faces if you want to visit - they're letting 2 people in at a time right now, and like I said, he's pretty much sleeping most of the time at the moment.
thanks again for your support and i'll keep you posted on his progress.

+1 Speedy recovery. Saw the bike and was in shock. Also on another note, good to see everyone helping get his bike remains loaded into the truck, and people help get his stuff together. Very nice to see everyone come together. Thanks for the update.

Hey Andrew, is Josh still at Harbor View? If so, do we just go and ask for him or do you know what room he is in? I'd like to stop by and drop off some magazines for him and say hi.

He's still at Harborview in the sugical ICU room 217, you can go to the front desk and ask for directions to that room it's kinda tricky to find.

Josh Nguyen, #53. Dunno his sn, but just a couple hours before his crash he was looking at buying one of my spare fairings. :( Will probably just give the thing to the poor guy now.. he's gonna need a hell of a lot more than just a fairing.

Yeah Josh is still there Harborview Surgical ICU #217. He just got his breathing tube out so he can talk a little. Got to see his X rays of the broken femur, he's got some hardware, rod extending the full lenght of the bone with two screws on the top and two on the bottom holding it in place. I think he's getting better but he's still so doped up that he's kinda delerious.

Nico,
When I stopped by to see him with my GF & daughter on sunday, his brother thought he would be in the same bed til wed, maybe friday. We was pretty doped up on pain meds and could barely talk due to it. Since he extubated himself and had been intubated for awhile, he was having a hard time trying to talk through that and the meds.
He remembered me and grabbed my girl friends hand whom he'd never met, so I think he may be a little better off than he's letting on. :inlove:
All kidding aside it sucked to see a fellow racer in that state and he's gonna have a long recovery ahead of him. His brother promised to phone and update later this week. Hope is progress is even better than expected.

Josh made it out of the ICU today !!! He's up on the 7th floor East wing 7-11 bed B. he's got a roomate and a kick ass view. He's doin' better and can chat it up, but still is a bit dilirious, and can quote almost all the lines from Zoolander... and would have if we let him :-)
He's got some new screws in his left hand from a broken finger they finally decided to find....and fix, so he's down to one good leg and one good arm, not half bad.......:pokestick:
he's breathing better, and only has the nose o2 helpin him out. He's coming down from his week long high of morphine and other drugs, so he's a bit strung out and detoxing. anyway, things are looking better and he appreciates everyong that has gone to see him and again thanks everyone for their support.
