Here is a new article about the County and SRP. I have to admit I have not had time to read it yet, but it looks interesting.

Good article! Read it, Snake. ;)
I, for one, would like to see SRP survive.

sounds like a win/win situation. If the county buys it alot of economic development.

Might be wise for wmrra to figure out out average attendance for a weekend over there and the average each person spent while in spokane and send that in to the county .

And invite people from the county to come and watch the races this labor day weekend. I'm sure people would be on their best behavior if they knew what it could mean.

Would've been there if I wasn't undergoing tenoylsis and MRI for a work-related injury on the Spokane weekends.
If no one from the exec's has already, please contact those listed in this article and explain how beneficial the track is to not only drag racers, but all users of the park.

And what safety improvements will be needed for the road course...

NO! Get them to buy it first AND then talk about improvments. You want the county to be in bed with the property before you speak about the money they need to spend to make it safer for us. This is because if you discuss the improvements along with possible cost they might go "oh no...we can't afford this" and then the track just goes away.

Or their comfortable with the lack of safety because no one raised it as a concern early on and nothing is done about it because it wasn't budgeted for in the aquisition deal. If you read the article motorcycle racing is scarcely a mention, once again it's all about drag racers. 10ft high dirt walls 10ft off the tracks edge is not safety and you better make it a point of contention early on or your improvements conversation will go the way of Pacific Raceways. :)

Thats because drag racing is far more popular and brings in WAY more money.
As for improvements, sure Spokane has a few bad points but all in all, its not that bad. Theres alot more unsafe tracks around and if I and others felt it was that bad, we wouldn't race there. Look at the history, we've been racing there since 97 ish and not many people have got hurt, mostly due to racing incidents-IE being taken out, caliper pins etc and not mistakes.

The track that scares me the most is Pacific. Pine trees don't give very well!

Both tracks suck when it comes to safety...Pacific mainly bad surface and secondarily proper run off. Spokane mainly poor run off and secondarily the overall facility.
However I would personally rate Spokane lower on the safety scale than pacific with no air fence and racing Tron style next to solid barriers (bonus points if you know what that reference is :) ), although there both horrible IMO. Someday we racers are goiong to have to demand better safety at our race facilities or it doesn't seem likely it will ever happen. :)

maybe there hasn't been much tree impact... but... how many times have you seen a bike sitting on TOP of the tire wall in turn 2?

At a general membership meeting over the winter airfence at spokane came up. It would first go to the wall/fence area coming out of turn 11. The problem came down to where would we store the air fence as trying to get permission to put a container there would seem to be problematic due to the track being in recievership.
I don't recall though anybody actually asking the track but that isn't to say nobody did.

Ditto. Pulled mine clear out from the other side of it, upside-down. Glad I didn't make it that far myself.
