I'm trying to prep my new 07 R6 to run novice. I just purchased a set of Hotbodies and now realize the lower won't fit over the catalytic converter on the stock exhaust. It seems it will work if I cut away the lip towards the rear by the tire but does that make my body work illegal?

You could cut away the lip and then get some fiberglass cloth + resin and fabricate a new lip that does fit.
I had a similar problem with my 06 GSXR 600 and had to cut the back part of the lower fairing to fit the pipe. Also, you'll have to watch the heat the exhaust puts off. Mine almost caught fire the first time I tracked it. If you can swing it, an aftermarket slip on will probably work fine with the HB kit. If not, then I believe that so long as your lower will hold 4 quarts/1 gallon of fluid, you'll be legal for the track...

Ok that's what I was thinking would work. It seem the lip just behind the catylitic converter is what's in the way. Is it 4 quarts or 5?
In the rules book, Under Section E - Machinery and Numbers, this is what #34 states.
Fluid-catching bellypans - ALL 4 stroke machines MUST use a fluid retaining device (i.e. a bellypan or catchpan) capable of retaining at least 4 quarts of fluid. Vintage class eligible motorcycles running in Vintage classes only are required to use a fluid retaining device capable of retaining the amount of fluid in the crankcase, except dry-sump engines, which must be capable of retaining at least 2 quarts.
Hope I am reading this right.
