I'm brand new to this and having looked at the rulebooks for novice racers. I'd like to compete in the 125cc to start but calling around the shops and looking online for bikes that are availible for sale is getting a bit nerve racking. Can anyone racing the 125's give me a hand on tracking a bike down? My daily rider is an 05 SV650s which I'm sure will see the track next but I wanted to start slow and do things right this coming season. Any help would be great!!

dude, you sound like me! i ride an 04 SV650S. i took it on the track for my first time last month and loved it! :D a friend suggested i get an RS250 and start racing in the GP250 class... but i don't know where to start! i guess getting some money together would be a good place. :p in any case, i know my SV will be seeing some more track days next year!!! :)

I'd recommend talking to someone that races a two-stroke grand prix bike before you purchase one so you know what to get and what you are getting into... I can provide some help. 125cc GP bikes are amazing fun but buying one and using one is not as simple as prepping your SV.

I'm Jeff Webber #191 on Honda RS125R (I used to race an SV as well)

Yeah Jeff has a point,
A 125 or 250 requires a serious maintenence program. If you are starting out you may want to get a prepped SV or an older 600 and then progress to a puka race machine.
