The 10 day on weather.com calls for rain. But these forecasts always change.

we've been through this before... it will rain like hell on friday so that you think you're smart by putting rains on in the garage before you come, then it will be dry saturday morning so you'll change back to slicks after tech, then it'll rain like hell just before your race so you have to put the wets back on and then you'll go out and a dry line will form and you'll cook them... etc. etc. etc....

Bridgestone rains don't cook in the dry - they hold up really well for the wet/dry/wet/dry stuff!

Then how do the work in the wet? The reason why rains cook is because they have such a low operating temperature due to them being wet.

ok. or, you could put intermediates on and use a tyre that was designed for just that ;)

true but not SS legal either. :)
Which is why I'm going to use the Pilot Power as an intermediate. :>

why not?
Too far to drive with the high gas prices in relation to the amount of fun I anticipate having.
I could change my mind on this.

Racing in the rain sucks, :(
Not going for a championship or points so dry only for me. I want to go fast, not tiptoe around a wet, slick track.

there is no better way to understand being smooth rain riding.
It will ferret out the ham fisted blocs pronto.
It's easy...smooth, don't trail and break like hell.

It's easy...be smooth, don't trail and brake like hell while upright....Oh ya...trust your tires.

are you sure about that? i'm not.
i should probably check on that. if full rains are legal then why would a wet tyre not be legal? that's silly. they are legal in a lot of other assosiations.

They work kick ass in the wet and don't burn up in the dry - if you want more information than that, ask Bridgestone. Or come by our pit and look at the tires.

the rules say exactly:
Section P.5.f
Tires: original tires may be replaced with good DOT approved tires with a minimum of 1/16th inch tread or commercially manufactured non DOT approved full rain tires. Hand cut, modified, retread or knobby tires are not allowed. Racing-only tires slicks or otherwise (with the exception of full rains) are not allowed.
The exception is only on full rains and not intemediates. The idea is that a DOT tire can handle the track being damp...but in a downpour its unsafe so we allow full rains.

well, that's a silly idea then. wets should be allowed. then you can spend even more money on tyres.

I always wondered why nobody used intermediates around here... PR seems like the perfect track for them, with all this drizzle/sun/drizzle/sun shit we get!
