I just went on maybe the best street ride I've ever been on yesterday when it was all nice and sunny out. Then a buddy of mine told me about Google Pedometer (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/). It's pretty friggin' sweet for mapping out the route you took and showing people. Also for figuring out how many miles you rode. When you're done plotting the route, you can save it and it spits out a link where you can access that route from then on. My route from yesterday is here (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=840474). 121 miles.

did you take a GPS with you or something ? Why did you stop? did you freeze your ass off, or was the road closed, or is it dirt ?

I like to do the Mt. Rainer rides over paradise and chinook pass. you have to catch it when theres no traffic, or it kinda sucks.

No, Google Pedometer makes it easy to map your route without a GPS. Just find where you were on the map (just like using Google Maps) and keep double-clicking waypoints along your route. It automagically adds up your mileage and saves your route when you're done. It's way cool!

As far as the road out there goes, it's paved all the way to the ski resort. In fact, I've HEARD that last summer they repaved the switchbacks up to the ski area and it's like biker heaven now. I plan on getting up there once it gets warmer for sure.

We stopped and turned around mainly because it was just getting so late. We didn't leave until my friend got off of work, so we just ran out of time. It was getting dark and cooling down really quickly the higher we went, but even that far out there, it was sunny and we couldn't even see snow other than the awesome views of the mountain.

I seriously recommend running out that way if you get the chance. Second only to North Cascades Highway to Winthrop for awesomeness IMO. From Glacier on is pure gold. Only encountered one other vehicle during the last 20 miles. Check it out. And give me a call if you do.
