Can anyone tell me if these will pass tech ??

I think these would help against destroying the motormounts etc. after a crash. LP has them too - I think they are becoming more popular.

In WERA or AFM (can't remember which) there are illegal as they are thought to be another catch point when you are crashing. That would be a very bad thing.

Besides where in the rule book are frame sliders even allowed for Supersport. :)

not sure - I guess it might be considered something that is "protruding" from the bike ??

Where does it say they are not allowed???

If you read the Supersport rules they are inclusive and not exclusive. Meaning if the rule doesn't say its allowed its not allowed. I don't see frame sliders in there.

Now I'm not saying it matters...just an interesting technical note.

I doubt if anyone would contest you using them... they are not going to make you any faster... if anything they are going to add more weight to your bike. looks like they are high enough up that they may work..

I don't like the idea of them being able to catch you if you crash. That's what I don't like about those designs. Now if you put on the normal frame slider in each of the bolt holes that thing bolts into...that'd be cool and should provide the same amount of protection.

I don't see how it could provide the same ammount of protection, the thing that gets my attention is it's probable impact distribution between the two points (did that sound smart ??) the only reason I am looking at them is that i've seen to many torn apart motor mounts from frame sliders getting torqued on impact - thsi seems like it would save you that possible outcome. the new R6 ones look pretty low, and I would be worried about scrapping, but the CBR 600rr ones look pretty good. I would rather gain a pound rather than dealing with a new frame or having someone weld or work on frame damage.

on another note - do ANY AMA racers or or pro riders use frame sliders at all ? or do they simply have so much money they don't care about the damage after a crash. Do any of the WMRRA top riders use em ? i've never really paid that much attention...

One reason people sight for the lack of using frame sliders is once the bike hits the dirt they are known to dig in and flip the bike resulting in worse damage than without.

But I've never paid attention myself.

I run Yoyo's on my 600rr and can attest to their crashworthiness. I've been down on them twice at Pacific and once at PIR and they work really well. The plastic mushroom cap crushes and breaks off on impact limiting a lot of the initial impact. The metal that they use for the slider is pretty soft and files away rather well limiting the whole "flipping" issue. Expect to replace the whole side unit after every crash. So far no frame or engine mount damage and limited bodywork damage on my bike.
