"...has WMRRA ever considered staggered grid positions instead of lining everyone on the same plane like they do now?"
-Dan Lippis
I produced a mock-up of Dan's first suggestion of representing a staggered grid with different sized / spaced cones against the wall. It always helps me to see an image first, than debate...
Please don't toss it out just because all the bikes represented are Ducs. Just figured it's going that way sooner or later anyway. :D

I like it and I think it can work IMHO.
I'll even volunteer to setup in the mornings. :)

You just want in early. :)
I said this in the email thread but I found the numbers so we'll have numbered rows at Pacific like we have in Spokane. w00t!
Nico would you be willing to buy the little cones out of your own pocket so we can do this?

I actually already have about 40ish cones I think from football.
Either way, it's a small enough cost that I wouldnt care if it came out of my pocket.

Are they heavy enough to not move when a bike goes by at 140?
Since you are my Supersport rep I would like this idea to be done. Can you please let the E-Board know? Thanks. :)

I'll bring it up at the next E-board meeting.

Hey Guys-
The cone numbering is ALREADY being done. (is done) Your Course Marshall, one Russell Wieand, is the person responsible for seeing this through. (that is why we have his position)
If anyone has suggestions for anything regarding raceday, please contact me, Jeff Wieand, your 2007 WMRRA Race Director. I don't read each and every post on the forum and therefore can't address all issues that are brought up here.
Your Course Marshall has NO e-mail. His only contact is by phone.(or in person)
We have a system in place for contacting the appropriate people responsible for concerns you all may have. It starts with your Rep.'s and there is a contact list if you can't get your Rep. to respond. If you use the resources provided and you'll be more likely to get faster results.
I will listen to each and every issue brought to my attention through the appropriate means. I will work with other Race Day Staff to come to a timely and fair outcome.
I ran for Race Director to see that each and every racer has an equal say and shouldn't feel embarassed or slighted in ANYWAY for seeking clarification or making suggestions. The day that I don't give each and every member their fair shake will be the day I quit.
As members of this organization, we are bound by the rules and regulations of the club. We agree to uphold these rules and regulations as members and to act accordingly when we seek changes.
Each member has the same responsiblities in seeing the club evolve and should work toward bettering not just themselves, but WMRRA as a whole. When WMRRA succeeds, we ALL succeed.
I'm very greatful that we have numerous members willing to give their time, effort and, in some cases, money to see positive results for all. It makes me proud to say I work for you.
Sorry for the ramblings...I'll get down off my soap-box now.
I can be reached @ race.director@wmrra.com or on my cell @ (206)334-0811
Good for you Jeff. Troy341

Sounds like a good idea to me Darren. Might as well give the people who earn a grid spot an actual advantage over those who didn't. I'll just have to try harder to earn those spots though. STAGGER IT!! Nice mock up by-the-way, computer nerd.

Jeff, shouldn't you be doing your home work or something.
Glad to see the diagram gets the point across. The basic idea came from Lippis, but it is something that a lot of people have questioned & brainstormed about. Simple seems to be best on this one.

"Alot of people have questioned and brainstormed"???
HUH?!?!?
This is the FIRST I've heard of this....when were the brainstorming sessions and why wasn't I invited? :(
What questions did alot of people have? Who did they ask? When did they ask? What were the answers given, if any? By whom?
I personally don't see anything wrong with staggering the grid. I think the "edge" a racer would get this way is over-rated...how many sprint races have been decided by the grid locations? Is 2-3 feet going to matter THAT much in the end? Hopefully, this will put a stop to those pesky photo-finishes.
...And to imply that just "because this is brought up by a few Ducati riders" that it doesn't deserve or won't get that needed attention in pure B.S. and I certainly hope it was meant as a joke. Besides, when did Danny Lippis ride a Ducati?
I listen to each and every issue brought to my attention via the proper channels and weigh all issues PRIOR to ruling. I will play NO favorites. (You, of all people, should know this from last year.) :)
Bring this to your rider Rep. & the Rep. will (should) present it to the General membership. Then, and only then, will it be considered...
But then you DO ride a Ducati..... :p

It has been the topic of probably more than 50 messages over the last few days on the wmrra (at micapeak.com) email list, which you apparently aren't subscribed to. So it's not that you weren't invited -- you just chose to not show up at the party. :p

*crackup* nice one Tim!
As I said earlier to everyone, I'll present this @ the meeting on behalf of the riders and then Jeff/Russ can make their call. :)

Jeff, basically Dan created a big e.mail thread that i eventually pulled to the WMRRA forum to post the pic. along with showing others who are not on the WMRRA e.mail list to see what is being "questioned and debated" by many. The Ducati thing was just a joke because of me using red little bikes in the pic. Not because of any connection with this being a Ducati Rider specific request.
Also, i think that maybe you read my response to Jeff Seehorn as one directed to you. I could see how this would get confused, as these type of posts often do, but i was actually joking with Seehorn about him being a college student (or recent Grad possibly) and getting back to his "homework" instead of piping up on forums.
My intention was to represent Dan's original idea with an image to simplify the confusing discussion that was occuring by e.mail.
Beyond that i applaud you for following up on this type of stuff here in the forum, being available, and developing the list of improvements from the Track Safety thread. I especially like seeing #6 and #12 on the list. Thank you for all of that.
BTW: Can we die your hair half black / half italian red this season? ;)
Oh, and you gave me a good idea, i will put Lippis on a Ducati 1098 if you get the rules changed to allow it in 750 SBK!
Always your favorite, well besides Brad,

Jeff, I think this is a big misunderstanding. I brought this subject up on the micapeak forum a couple days ago and there's been a lot of response from many people. I never intended to exclude you...sorry about that! I thought most WMRRA folk used that forum, which is why I used it. I actually didn't even remember this particular forum which is why I didn't use it...this is my first posting. I never intended to by-pass the normal channels or anything, I was just throwing it out there.
