Hi Everybody,

I'm interested in getting in on the racing action but I want to start off small and cheap, just like me. I've talked to the F-160 folks and they seem really cool and it seems like that's the way to go. But, in interest of readily available parts and modern technology, I was wondering if anyone was running Ninja 250s in WMRRA? What class would they be in and would they be competitive? If something breaks on my bike during practice, would I be able to find any help in the pits from fellow ninja racers?

Thanks for any and all opinions or suggestions!

The 250 Ninja would be legal for 125 GP, but good luck against the RS125s that dominate that class. You might also be hard-pressed to find track tires and race parts for the little Ninja, and as for anyone else in the pits who could help, it's best to acquire all the spares you need before you get to the track. I can't recall the last time I saw anyone racing a 250 Ninja...

If you're looking for a bike that you could run for a while and would be competitive in several different classes, the SV650 is hard to beat for your first race bike. Tons of spares and aftermarket support available for the SV, and it won't burn up tires like a supersport 600 or 750.

Last time I spoke to the guys at Bellevue Kawasaki, they mentioned something about starting up a Ninja 250 club with plans of racing. You might want to check with them, they might have some interesting info for you.
