Hi Folks, just starting out again. I own a VFR800, but it's messed up right now, and I don't expect to ride again until next springtime. I've only been riding about three years, and racing is very new to me. I really enjoy attending track days as a pit crew helper and spectator, so I am looking for some people that are willing to teach in return for an extra set of hands.

I attended Reg Pridmore's CLASS school earlier this year, and I have studied riding for a long time, but I didn't grow up with motorcycles nor have I done any dirt riding. I haven't lurked around here yet at all, so it will take some time for me to get up to speed, but I look forward to eavesdropping and learning as much as I can in the time I have. Looking forward to seeing you in the pits.

What bike are you planning on racing?

Sorry, none. I'm not ready for any kind of racing, but I like to watch and help out where I can... need an extra hand or two sometime?

Hey Kevin,
A great way to get involved is to Corner Work for WMRRA. You get to see ALL the racing from a vantage point most people will never see, plus you get coffee and muffins in the AM, lunch, and we'll buy you a frosty cold adult beverage after the day is over! It's awesome!
If you are interested PM and I can tell you more information!

Okay, I'm in. I sent my volunteering info to the address given on the website. I'll study the info and be ready... I'll be driving from Kitsap Co., but does Pacific have camping?

Never mind... their website has the lodging info. Answered my own question. No camping.

WMRRA weekends are an exception (I believe it's because the club provides the security which would otherwise not exist). I and several others camp in the pits Saturday night on race weekends. The only drawback is the noise from the drag races which are held on many Saturday nights.

Hey, thanks for the heads up... sounds alright. I suppose, as registered racers, you don't need to make reservations, if you are just camping in the pits. As a corner worker, do you think I could just pull my car into the area after it's cleared?

I intend to scam a shower from a local facility and just sprawl out in my trunk. I could park anywhere, of course, but I think the pits will offer the best scene. Do I need to make a reservation, you think?

No reservations required (or even possible, as far as I know). The pit area at Pacific Raceways is part paved and part grass/trees. If I were you I'd just pick a nice spot in the treed area and call it home.

WwOwW! What a weekend! I really had a great time, I will not soon forget it! Corner working was really enjoyable, so much better and more involved than merely spectating... Muchos proper respectos to Russell, he really was the backbone of the operation, and he was able to provide extra scanners. Having the radios on really brought me into the action and the stories out on the track. Also, Brother Jeff provided lots and lots of background info... and the good word from the Buell corner.

Tony and Jason (?) were fun to hang with in turn 7, had good laughs. Look forward to riding with you guys over here on the peninsula sometime.

See you all next year, of course!

Kevin
