keep looking... you should be able to find something in that price range... However, you will have WAY better luck in the 3000-3500$ range and you will (more than likely) get more bang for your buck.

totally depends on your budget and how mechanically inclined you are. Brad Gua has a great set up for a TFS bike - would be agreat novice bike, lots of spares, fantastic bike - but it's "older" so it would depend on what you're up for.

(my mistake - it's $3500...I was thinking it was less...but a rockin' deal, especially with spares and knowing Brad and the bike!)

TFS loosely translated means Too F**king Slow, or Tired Former Superbike.
It is a class for 1998 and older 640cc Superbikes. Mods are unlimited beyond displacement, but no turbo's or nitrous.
It is a blast of a class, really tight racing, and we are all friendly off of the track, too.
Look here (http://www.wmrra.com/rules.html#Sec-Q) for rules.
I will vouch for Brad's bike, I am lusting for it every time that I look at it. It is the perfect TFS weapon. It would be a great Novice bike, and the spares package is incredible.
There are also a couple of Honda CBR600 F2's available, and they are great Novice bikes. Spares are everywhere, and they run forever.
Look here (http://www.wmrra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1727) for the F2's.
Remember, buy local, race local, and support local!
And good luck!

Don't....you are new in this so you can't be expected to know what the various things are.
BTW: If you are planning on racing start to get familier with the rules located at http://www.wmrra.com/rules.html.
Hi,
If you are still looking for a good starter, check out my ad for my 1993 GS500 in race bikes for sale. It's a great way to learn your way around the track for cheap! All the skills you will learn on this bike will apply to any other bike you get.
Remember, it's better to be fast on a slow bike than to be slow on a fast bike...
Good luck!

Don't buy anything that you would be heart broken over if it got totalled. This is a real possibility each and everytime you go out on the track. Also make sure your ride is crashworthy and has minimal bling. $450 rear sets look a lot nicer than stock, but as a newbie you won't notice you don't have them until it's time to replace one. Then it's CHA CHING! 2 more pieces of advice and I'll get off my soap box. 1) Spend your money on track time and tires rather than a 2007 GSZXCBRYF 1000. The guy with the newest and fastest bike isn't always the quickest. This isn't an original concept, just one that was drilled into my head repeatedly. 2) Think long and hard before putting race expenses on a credit card that you can't pay off each month. This is not cheap fun and can get out of hand quickly. I'm done.....and I didn't even put in a shameless plug for what I think is the PERFECT novice ride! :D

taking a street bike and making it a race bike will cost you anywhere from $2-$4k if you are doing it on the cheap. This does not include the cost of the bike.
The plug is that he has two perfect race ready F2's for sale for cheap. They are in this classified ads.

Buy an f2or an fzr. tons of parts , bulletproof and ultra cheap to run. If that doesnt sound like you, maybe an sv650. Not to mention you can step into TFS Before having to jump right into the supersport or superbike classes.
