Can the header pipe of a two-stroke expansion chamber be repaired if a crack/split is discovered?
Does anyone locally do this kind of work...?
This is for my RS125R racebike...
I'd rather not buy a new expansion chamber from HRC as they are very, very expensive...
Thanks,
Jeff

it can be done, i've cracked a few and had them re-welded, it's pretty common for them to crack, especially near where it tapers off on the end then up towards the silencer.
any decent welder should be able to do it easy. I get mine done by somebody i know at a local bike shop.

The hardest bit is getting a grinder on the inside to smooth out the weld to not affect the air flow inside the pipe.

A "GOOD" welder won't need to do that as he won't leave gob's of weld in the pipe ? www.overthetop.ca if you need it done , but we ain't local , But we are DAMN GOOD !
