Hey all, Its Gary T # 910 and I was woundering if you have any idea's
Here is the Problem. Around 6 to 10 grand, the bike has trouble keeping power. It feels like it is lacking fuel. When I went to the last 2 fast day, My bike didn't start. Rick from S&B sold me some plugs and it started right up. Now I can't keep power under load or even when I rev it. I pull the thorotle all the way back and it really strugles. I think it is running lean. It also back fired when I did rev it high. Anyone here a tech who could help? All the dealers are booked and if I can't get this fixed, I am out for Spokane.
The only other thing I can think of are the coils that cover the plug. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
Wubbie

Huh! I'm not sure what your problem is with it cutting out mid way threw the rpm range. But my bike and other backfire when coming down from high rpm to idle. It has something to do with the back pressure ect.... Good luck

I think you are right on the money when it comes to running lean. But the key is figuring out why.
My initial thought is your fuel pump is going out, a pinched fuel hose, a pinched breather line or a clogged fuel filter.
When did this start? Right after some maintance or perhaps a crash? How about after putting some fuel in?

So George Dean is booked? I would call them and see at least what they say. They have always been extremely helpful.

I'll try them I guess, But i think it could be ethier be a fuel line but I am getting fuel t the carbs
Is it FI or carb? '03 R6'es had a recall on coils, symptoms are pretty close to what you describe. If yours is 1st gen and you can ride over to my place or just stop by, I'll give you my coils to try out (and ride if that's where the problem is). The engine blew in mine so pretty much anything we can scavenge off of my bike to get yours going is fair game.
Unfortunately I don't have much time/knowledge and I'm outta here early Fri (Oregon coast, kitesurfing!)
Oh yea for quick responce my e-mail is wmrra@azazello.net and I'm in Eastlake, work in Redmond.

ya, its a carb. I am taking it to lynnwood. Thanks guys
I'd be surprised if they have coils in stock.
Anyway, I'll likely be home from ~7PM and you're welcome to stop by. E-mail for address and phone #. It'll take less than 20 minutes to swap out coils and I also have a new battery so we could try if that is the source of the problem. If it's carbs than I'm of no help, all I know how to do in carbs is take them apart, clean them and put them back in :) Well, and check fuel level in float chambers.

Hey, if the guys at the shop think it is the coils, then I'll come by. Thanks a lot for you help. Means a bunch! Thanks
I had the same on mine. check that your fuel tank has a open breather. If you have installed a aftermarket fuel cap, vent it.

make sure your fuel lines not kinked when your gastank is installed.
it would still allow fuel to your carbs but flow would be greatly reduced.
