Is it safe to plug my laptop into my Yamaha generator? I've always been too scared of frying my laptop to just try it out.

IF.. anything happened, it would burn the power supply up, not the laptop. I've run laptops and desktop machines from DC/AC Inverters for years without issue in the commercial trucks I've driven, it's the same basic tech inside a generator.
If you are truly concerned, run a surge protector, IME, I've found that laptops are A LOT less sensitive to voltage variances then desktops are.

Should be fine, your adapter converts ac into dc as it is. Wouldn't hurt to have a surge protector just in case.

I do it all the time.

The Honda and Yamaha generators have internal inverters for really clean power - safe for electronics. The cheap Colemans and other low-end generators do not - even a laptop power supply is spendy.

Leslie sorts photos off a honda generator all afternoon. Never any issues. I dont know about your power pack or whatever they want to call it... but mine gets hot anyway. Wall or generator. I simply would remember to have your generator started and running for a few minutes before plugging that in. But thats kind of a given.

Personally, i would put a ups between the notebook and the generator. Keeps the power clean.

Wouldn't you need a longer extension cord to run under the brown truck?:pokestick:
