Hope somebody can help me with this. My bike took a pretty bad beating last Friday and seems that the frame might be bent and the rear set tabs on the left side broke off, as well as the engine mount tab on the right side and the left side got bent pretty bad with the silder base. Steve said he got the tabs welded for about 180 and i have taked to WESCO and he said for everything it would prbably be close to 1000 if the frame was bent. SO after all of that jargon, i have found a frame for a GSXR 600 for 300 bucks. How hard is it to build a bike from the frame if i have all the parts from the other bike right there to swap... Do i need special tools for certain things, is it worth it?? I already have committed to buying another bike so i am trying to get what i can out of this bike... Anyways help or advice is welcome

Glad you found a frame.
It really isn't that hard. As long as you have a decent set of tools and the shop manual you can do it. I don't know about the GSXR but on my F4i the rear engine mount locations and the swing arm mount location castle nut socket (a different one for each location as the sizes are different). The purpose of the castle nut was to lock in an adjustor which needs to be moved due to variations in the frame and motor (it has two pieces that press up against the motor and then the motor mount bolt goes through there, think adjustable spacers).
Anyhow...it'll take a little bit of time and patience but there is no reason why you can't do it.
If you deciede not to do it...sell it all to me and I'll put it together (um...now I need to find the money. :) )

You mean like this:

Thats my RS125 being rebuilt last winter. Its a lot easier than disassembling a streetbike but its the same concept.
You will likely need a special tool for the engine and swingarm thrust adjuster and locknut rings. I've made the required tool by grinding down a socket on a bench grinder.
Getting the steering head bearings installed might be difficult but you might be able to rig up a tool to do it.

I'm thinking $2k but I really don't know how to properly valuate a bike in this condition.

Bike isnt that bad looking at after all... Frame does look straight just would bring me piece of mind with newer one. But i would have to let WESCO look at it. It does have a extra body work, strong 109 hp tuned motor, newer tank, and extras. I probably would feel more comfortable getting $2500 as is or Just bulid it with the new frame and sell it to the upcomming novices for $3000.

Don't forget if you change frames, the Bike will now have a new registrtation VIN #. If the new frame doesn't have valid VIN and reg, then you will have to remove (grind/file) the old VIN off, and stamp in your original. In most areas it is illegal to modify the VIN.

when you buy a brand new frame it has no vin. when you are done with the build up ou get it inspected by the state patrol. you need to bring the old frame down to them. if they like it you can stamp your new frame with the old vin and your title will get the salvage brand.
doing what you suggested points to a stolen bike and is not the way it should be handled.

if you have never done a build up like this it is perfect practice. I would build it up and then sell it to either some new novice or someone looking for a track bike. $3k is a price that I don't think most people looking for a track bike can pass up.
