Hey y'all!
I'm new to the forum. I am curious who does medical standby for races.
I'd be interested in helping out.

We have two services that I know of, Medic One and Race Rescue. Medic One is an external contract, and Race Rescue is manned by the race track. So, unless you work for Medic One or know someone at the track, your chances are pretty slim.
However, there is always an opportunity to be a corner worker and help out that way, contact the Corner Captain from the Contacts page and get the details there.
And welcome to the forums and race scene!

madefrtv,
I act as Ch. Tech and Medical Liason for WMRRA. I can probably answer most if not all of your questions regarding EMS at the track. If you want to give me a call we can talk about it. But, briefly, here is what we have at Pacific Raceways:
2 South King County Medics in their own So. King County Medic unit, stationed at track exit.
2 South King County FireFighter/EMT's in a privately owned aid car (Race Rescue) stationed on the front straight near the start/finish line. Their aid car is stocked with EMS supplies, backboards, c-collars, etc.
I am trying to get the Race Control to dispatch the crews in a tiered system where the EMT's roll first, then they decide sick or not sick, therefore determining whether Medics are needed or not. It has been a gradual change over from the old method of "who is closest", but as you probably know, Medics are not very practiced in triage, where as that is exactly what EMT's do.
I try to respond to all crashes and lend a hand. In the real world, an unconcious/unresponsive rider down would call for a Med7 response, with 7 pairs of hands working on a patient. So, even with my help, we usually enlist the assistence of willing corner workers on a response of that severity.
If you are looking to help, Phil is right on the money. Volunteer to corner work and carry some aid gloves in your pocket. We can always use a few extra hands!

thanks all, I'll see about getting some volunteer time with them.
I have done good bit of mx and flat track medical standby.
I should however, just get my novice and go racing

looks like corner work is the best option. I'm not really looking to get involved with a volunteer department so far from home (central district seattle)
So I'll try and be around when racing starts again(presuming its stopped for the year?)
