Ok....Im trying to finish getting the bike ready for Novice racing...here is my question...CASE COVERS - after searching the net and talkng to people I can only find a cover for the left side of the 1000rr (which is almost completly covered by the fairing). Here is the question...Is it required for the left side? and how about the right side? Any advice/input would be appreciated.

If you can not find one for the other side you will need to take your stock one to a welder and have them weld on an extra plate to the case. This is to strengthen the case in case of impact with the ground. The idea is to help prevent oil from getting on the track.

But yes they are required on your bike.

I was lucky in I bought an already preped and raced CBR600F4i from a WMRRA rider. He had the right case cover already strengthened up.

Read the rule book you may not have to have a case cover on both sides......

Section E.32

Engine guards:
Motorcycles which have been found to be susceptible to track oiling, will be required to have functional engine covers or guards in place to minimize the potential for oil spillage in the event of a crash.
In general, inline four cylinder engines are required to have guards in place on each side of the crankcase that contains oil behind the crankcase cover. Acceptable protection includes aftermarket extra-thick case covers, or external shields (preferably steel) bolted in place over the OEM case covers, or other means of protection acceptable to the technical inspector.
If crankcase protection is required but no aftermarket engine guards are available, then other hand-fabricated guard(s) must be used. Unavailability of guards does not constitute exemption from this requirement.
The following motorcycle models are known to require engine guards at the time of printing of this rule book. These requirements will be extended to other models during the year as required.
All Honda CBR: Both sides
All Kawasaki ZX-6, 7, 9, 10 and 12: Left side
All Suzuki GSXR,GSX and RF: Both sides
Yamaha FZR400 and FZR600: Right side
Yamaha YZF600, 1996 and earlier: Right side
Yamaha YZF600, 1997 and later: Both sides
