I hate to be the bearer of bad news but due to circumstances beyond my control I'm forced to CANCEL this weekend's event at Spokane Raceway Park.
I was unable to get a FINALIZED Track Use Agreement via the proper channels and sort out critical items to our race weekends.
I'd rather cancel the event than run the risk of having everyone show up and find that we were not able to race.
I don't know what the future holds for WMRRA in terms of racing at SRP, I'm hoping that I'll be able to finalize Track Use Agreements for the July and September events.
If you have any further questions please feel free to e-mail me @ president@wmrra.com also the General Membership meeting is this Wednesday, and we'll be discussing this.
Thanks,
Luke Gaylor

Everyone needs to spread the word ASAP. I know I'd hate to drive there only to find out it's cancelled. Maybe in July?

I'll start spreading the word aslo. This really sucks. I already have apporved vacation and fill ins all ready to roll. Alot of work for nothing. We should pool our resources and buy that place, hehe. I know there are alot of "well off" people that race WMRRA, C'mon and step up to the plate!!!!

Is this for real  this is depressing, well at least all the track days and race weekends have kept some folks in pies  , but apparently not the shareholders  . I guess someone should post something up on the OMRRA forum as well. I know there's some folks make the long trek from parts South.
Hey, dust off your passports lets go to BC, Mission looks close ;)

This is a joke right? Somebody just wants fewer racers lined up next to them so they have a better chance of winning there class? I cant believe that this race day has come along this far without a Finalized track use agreement set up way before today? WTF??????

Thanks Nico for posting on the other forums.
Everyone needs to help get the word out. I sent a round of emails to all those pre-entered using the registration system but was told that most people don't read them :-( and that since there wasn't anything in subject line about the cancellation they wouldn't notice either. Tim sent out another round for all those who registered online and I'll work on contacting those few old school without email addresses tonight.
I really would hate for someone to make that drive to find that it's been cancelled.
Thanks, Shellie

Maybe we could get one of those signs on I-90 that usually says the snow conditions to say "WMRRA races canceled" :)

No problem Shellie.
I've also posted on the internal Microsoft forum and mailing list.

Is it me or does it seem strange after all the WMMRA office postings that this weekend was a go for spokane, that it was not even varified, and that it was looked into for racing the week of the race. Memorial weekend is a big weekend for most and plans were set in motion months ago, as well as vacation days used. I feel this weekend being a bust was something we could have known about weeks ago. Perhaps I am looking into this to deep. just does not all add up.

Yeah it's a big deal and I am feeling a bit like I've got "race weekend blue balls" but give these guys a break. They have J O Bs and they are trying to race too and the Spokane thing has been a rollercoaster for quite some time. It comes as a surprise to me that this was not hammered out weeks ago but when a peice of property, especially one that hosts about a thousand people on a busy weekend that go 100 to 200mph down the front straight, is in receivership, nothing is for certain.
This was known to all that read the posts and have common sense to plan ahead and ask questions. I wish I could have signed up for NESBA on the 29th, but I chose to plan a Spokane weekend and scheadule vacation days and devote a lot of money and time into this weekend.
I guess what I am trying to say is... Quit bitchin' cause your not alone.... AND.... Thank you Luke and the rest of the WMRRA volunteers for trying so hard to make this weekend happen, it sure would have been a real hoot.

It was explained in depth at the membership meeting last night. Luke worked his ass off till the last minute to get a finalized track agreement with SRP and had no reason to believe we wouldn't get one. As of Monday @ COB we didn't have one so he had to do what he felt was in the best interest of the club and the racers.

Ditto on csbextreem.
I had lined up accomodations, arranged for Friday off to get over, etc...
I am bummed like everyone else. With my work and travel schedule, there is now no way for me to get in enough novice heats to graduate this year.
I bet Luke and company make big dollar putting all this together (note sarcasm). My hat is off to them for doing what they can and putting in the effort they have so that we have racing in general. Thanks.

I don't care what happens with Spokane going forward, I have wiped them off my schedule for the rest of the year and will not attend even if they do reschedule again. Don't need the doubt and sounds like they have alot to do over there until things are square again.
My guess is from what I have read about the receivership and all the troubles, is that with them being upside down already, loosing a wknds worth of income from us racers is one more nail in the coffin.
Thanks to all the WMRRA voly's who helped and tried to make it work. :)

I hope they get things fixed over there! I haven't been to the track yet but would like to have more than one track to run with WMRRA. I wonder if WMRRA will look to PIR to have another track to run at. Heck I would like to see a Great Northwest Series or something like that where we run PIR, SIR, and maybe spokane. Just my 02

Why?
I would suspect no insurance. You have to have 1 million in coverage.

Not sure, Over the top was organizing so maybe he can chime in. I called SRP early in the week and the voicemail was full... I was wondering if anyone was manning it.
