i just pulled off my 014's and put on Avon pro's, i find that when they're not warm they grip less than the 014's, and all round they tend to be willing to slide more, but are more predictable.
anyone have experience with Avons?

Jafar,
You hit the nail square with your perception of the Avon's. Roadracing world did a big blind tire comparioson and found the same feelings, but also that they were more predictable, just a little scary to slide all the time. Their new Viper's are suppose to be much better. I use the AV 45/46 on my street bike (Triumph Speed Triple)as they wear great for 5-7K, then taper off to greaseballs. It does take them a loonngg time to warm up, especially in winter. BUt the slide characteristics I've grown accustomed to, and actually enjoy.
For more info and maybe a recommened pressure set, call the Avon rep over in Edmonds.

Hmm Avon's, the last experience I had with Avons was probably about 10 years agon a GSXR1100WP. This was on the street, I had a real problem with the sidewalls cracking on the rear (180/55 ) and high speed corner instability  so I took them off long before they were worn out as I thought they were unsafe, I replaced them with my usual  at the time Battlax (BT50 I think). If remember right they were AV?? 29s or something like that, an early attempt at a radial tire for Avon. I would imagine that they have come a long way since then, do they make any race tires yet??
